Mocktails at the Library!

September is Library Card Sign-up Month. To celebrate, we held a Sippin’ n Signin’ mocktail event on the Tuesdays listed below from 4-5 pm.

Patrons could come in, enjoy a mocktail and a snack, and make sure their library card is up to date or sign up for one if they haven’t. We also have a drawing going for a Book Lover’s Gift Bag so be sure to sign up for that. The drawing will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd and you do not need to be present to win.

Today will be our last mocktail tasting but don’t worry….if you missed out, we are sharing all of the mocktail and appetizer recipes we made over the past three weeks. Paper copies are available at the library or you can print them out below!

Mushroom Craft

For this craft, you will need a pair of scissors, white paper, red paper, white buttons, six popsicle sticks, and some liquid glue.

Take your 6 popsicle sticks and line them up evenly side by side. Take your white piece of paper and glue the sticks onto it, still keeping them lined up side by side. Trim any excess paper off. The paper side will face the back. Then cut a mushroom cap shape out of your red paper and glue that on top of the sticks. Add buttons and let the mushroom dry.

Pinecone Bats

For this project, you will need liquid glue, a black marker, construction or card stock paper in white and a different color for the wings, and a scissor.

Take the wing colored paper and draw out your wings and some ears. Cut them out. Take the white paper and cut out two teeth. Glue the pinecone to the wings, it may take some time to dry and might need to be pressed down a bit. Glue the teeth and ears onto the pinecone and draw eyes with the marker.

Family Story Time at the library

This was our last week of Family Story Time! We will take a break in September and pick it back up again in October. Stay tuned for the registration link for our next series (October-December). We will continue offering the same Story Time on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:30am. This allows you to pick the best day for your schedule. See you in October!

Printed Paper

For this craft, you will need tin foil, a spray bottle of water, a piece of paper, and washable markers. Your paper and tin foil size are dependent on how big you want your print to be.

First, take the tin foil and lay it out—color over it with markers. Then spray with your spray bottle on top of the tin foil where you colored. Lay your paper face down on top and press. Lift it up and see how the design turned out. Let it dry. You can leave it as is or go back in and draw something, using it as a background.

Craft Stick Friendship Puzzles

For this craft, you will need paint or markers.

Set all your craft sticks together so they are touching. Draw a design that goes over all three sticks. You can also work together with your friends. When you are done, take them apart and give two away to friends, keeping one for yourself. You can use them as a bookmark and when you put them all together they complete the design!
